An innovative and growing foundry that is hiring a Maintenance General Supervisor. The function of the Maintenance General Supervisor is to provide maintenance and repair support for the facilities and equipment and maintain compliance with all company guidelines and all applicable government regulations and standards.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Management: Training and supervising a team of six (6) plant supervisors and 30 mechanical electrical and oiler tradesman. Facilitate resolution on escalated issues and provide guidance and support to the team.
Safety and Compliance: Ensuring all work complies with health safety and environmental regulations. Ensure that you and your team work in a safe manner to prevent injuries to themselves or co-workers.
Preventative and Corrective Maintenance: Executing PM programs for mechanical electrical and oiler tradesman in each department in the facility.
Facility Inspections: Conducting regular inspections of buildings grounds and equipment to identify repair needs or safety hazards.
Planning and Scheduling: Creating daily weekly and weekend schedules and coordinating with other departments or contractors.
Reporting and Administrating: Maintaining records of repairs and reporting project status to upper management.
Budget Management: Assist in budget preparation ensuring cost-effective repairs and contractor expense.
Skills Required:
Strong understanding of foundry equipment (mechanical electrical and hydraulics) repair. Know how to read and understand schematic drawings (mechanical electrical and hydraulics) to ensure work is performed to equipment standards.
Ability to motivate and manage performance under high pressure situations. Ensuring supervisors are aware of tradesman utilization to promote efficient use of manpower and company resources.
Effective communication with staff and senior management combined with strong project planning skills.
Ensure proper staffing for all shifts in all areas of the plant. General Supervisor will approve all vacation and bonus time.
Document all infractions and issues regarding safety environmental quality and team members and report those issues to maintenance manager.
Attend all maintenance related meetings and Root Cause Analysis activities and investigations.
Continually look for opportunities to improve the safety process and maintenance activities of your assigned plant.
Communicate clearly and in a way that promotes a positive culture/outcome.
Provide updates to maintenance manager on maintenance issues when the equipment is going to be down for an hour or longer.
Maintain working relationships with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Have all weekend work on the work list to review Wednesday at the maintenance meeting at 10am except for emergency work that comes up after the meeting.
Education:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Associate degree (preferred) or higher in maintenance or engineering or 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance or engineering supervisor.
