Material Handler I
Location: Houston TX
Shift: 1st Shift 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $18.00 $21.00 per hour
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Position Summary
We are seeking a Material Handler I to support warehouse and shipping operations in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for safely handling incoming and outgoing materials operating mobile equipment and ensuring accurate documentation and traceability of materials.
The ideal candidate will have prior forklift experience (forklift/side loader) strong attention to safety and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities

Pull materials and prepare orders for customers

Load customer trucks and ensure shipments are accurate and damage-free
-
Unload vendor deliveries and verify incoming materials
-
Complete and maintain all required shipping and receiving documentation
-
Label and tag materials according to company procedures
-
Maintain accurate inventory of pallets crates and shipping materials
-
Operate forklifts and side loaders daily
-
Ensure all materials are properly tracked and traceable
-
Follow work instructions for safe handling and storage of materials
-
Maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment
-
Support production and shipping teams to meet customer delivery schedules
-
Assist with other warehouse or material handling tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
Minimum 3 years of material handling experience
-
Experience operating mobile equipment (forklift side loader etc.)
-
Strong attention to safety and quality procedures
-
Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment
-
Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience in manufacturing or specialty metals environments
-
Ability to read and interpret work instructions and safety documentation
-
Basic computer skills for data entry and tracking materials
-
Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
-
Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel Word)
Physical Requirements
-
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
-
Occasional lifting up to 100 lbs
-
Ability to stand walk and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
-
Work environment includes indoor warehouse conditions with varying temperatures
