The Job:

This Role is responsible for designing building and scaling a world-class competitive and resilient supply base in Mexico. This role will lead strategic sourcing supplier development localization and cost competitiveness initiatives to support business growth operational excellence and long-term value creation locally for Stanley Black & Deckers existing footprints in Monterrey and Reynosa MX.

The successful candidate will act as a strategic partner to Operations Engineering Quality Finance and Supply Chain while serving as the primary architect of Mexicos supplier ecosystembalancing cost quality delivery innovation and risk.

You will get to:

Supply Base Strategy & Development

  • Define and execute a Mexico supply base strategy aligned to improving COST and CASH for SBDs footprint in MX: localization AND in-region distribution points for overseas Supplier partners etc.
  • Define a best fit for Mexico quote methodology which considers appropriate volume and complexity considerations
  • Identify qualify onboard and develop best-in-class local and regional suppliers across direct and indirect spend categories in conjunction with Engineering Manufacturing Quality and Procurement Operations
  • Drive supplier localization and nearshoring initiatives to reduce risk lead time and total landed cost.
  • Establish a network of relationships with Mexico Government resources to solicit local support for SBD initiatives

Strategic Sourcing & Cost Leadership

  • In collaboration with Category Management and Center of Excellence: Lead high-impact sourcing initiatives including RFQs negotiations should-cost modeling and total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses
  • Deliver measurable cost productivity and working capital improvements while maintaining or improving quality and service.
  • Implement advanced sourcing strategies (e.g. dual sourcing regional footprint optimization supplier segmentation).

Supplier Performance & Governance

  • Establish supplier performance management frameworks including KPIs for quality delivery cost sustainability and risk.
  • Lead supplier audits business reviews and development plans to elevate supplier maturity and capability.
  • Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement programs with underperforming suppliers.

Cross-Functional & Executive Leadership

  • Partner closely with Manufacturing Quality Engineering Supply Chain Finance and Legal to ensure seamless supplier integration.
  • Serve as a senior procurement representative for Mexico in global sourcing forums and executive reviews.
  • Influence and align stakeholders at all levelsfrom plant leadership to global executives.
  • Risk Compliance & Sustainability
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply geopolitical regulatory and operational risks within the Mexico supply base.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies trade regulations (e.g. USMCA) ethics standards and local laws.
  • Embed sustainability ESG and responsible sourcing principles into supplier selection and development.

Team & Capability Building

  • Build lead and develop a high-performing procurement team in Mexico.
  • Drive capability uplift in strategic sourcing negotiation supplier development and digital procurement tools.
  • Foster a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement.

  • Successful multi-year track record in a Fortune 50 200 Enterprise
  • 10 years of management experience all of which need not be within Supply Chain & a Procurement function. Multi-dimensional experience procurement quality digitization
  • Understands Material Planning Forecasting and Demand planning and Strategic Sourcing
  • Familiar and Practitioner of Lean methodologies (Problem solving tier management etc.)
  • Demonstrated success in managing large programs and guiding project management teams
  • Digital thinker: Understands process design for digital readiness
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes such as machining stamping etc.
  • Supply Chain concept awareness: Demand/Supply Planning Material Planning Logistics/Transportation
  • Outstanding people leadership and management skills with an ability to lead diverse teams globally Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proven experience in managing leading and transforming organizations and teams Superior communication and presentation skills
  • Results-oriented
  • Situationally Effective leadership with an ability to lead and navigate complex matrix structure
  • Strong organization building skills: ability to attract and develop new and diverse talent and to develop linkages with the companys different divisions and functions
  • High energy and enthusiasm to establish & thought-lead a modern approach to Sourcing strategies and innovative execution
  • Willing to make tough/unpopular decisions but well respected by internal and external business leaders
  • Affable with a high tolerance for ambiguity
