The non-exempt job classification is covered under The McNamara-OHara Service Contract Act (SCA) and the contracts collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Service employees are compensated per the prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits that are set by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Divisions WDs 29 CFR Part 541 and 29 CFR 4.163(f) unless otherwise modified by a CBA between labor and management. Job Summary Under direct supervision performs physical tasks to transport or store MTE items or materials. Duties involve one or more of the following: manually loading or unloading freight cars trucks or other transporting devices; unpacking or placing items in proper staging or storage locations; or transporting goods by hand truck or cart. Essential Functions: - Assists in unloading and staging MTE receipts/shipments for inspection.
- Sorts bands and stretch wraps USPS MTE for storage or shipment.
- Stages outgoing MTE shipments.
- Assists in the loading of MTE for shipment.
Marginal Functions: - Performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for conforming to all safe work practices and procedures to include Job Assessment Planning and Stop Work Authority.
Working Conditions - Frequent exposure to dirt dust and other potential allergens.
- Frequent short duration (>30 min) exposure to the elements i.e. weather variations
- Occasional extended duration (<30 min) exposure to the elements i.e. weather variations
Physical and Mental Demands - Frequent bending standing walking sitting.
- Ability to lift to 20 lbs.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer and peripherals.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner with senior level staff and customers.
- Follow established guidelines in performing day-to-day routine tasks as outlined in the SOW.
- Use of appropriate PPE i.e. hard hat gloves safety glasses steel toe shoes.
- Use of appropriate hand tools i.e. hammer screwdriver pry bar plyers etc.
- Perform general housekeeping functions for a safe work environment.
