Job Summary

The Estates Department manages a complex multi-site portfolio including asset management new build commissioning major refurbishments demolitions infrastructure upgrades and planned and reactive maintenance. These activities are supported by advanced systems technologies and management processes essential to the safe efficient and sustainable operation of UKAEAs estate.

Reporting to the Unit Head this senior leadership role is responsible for leading the Asset Management Group and driving the development implementation and continuous improvement of UKAEAs Asset Management Strategy. The postholder will play a key role in shaping and delivering the Asset Management Plan ensuring alignment with organisational objectives regulatory requirements and industry best practice.

Core responsibilities

  • Lead the development implementation and continuous improvement of UKAEAs Asset Management Strategy and Strategic Asset Management Plan ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and risk appetite.
  • Provide senior leadership for asset management governance establishing robust frameworks policies and standards that promote consistency compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for asset-related issues assessing risks and driving effective resolution across the organisation.
  • Drive organisational transformation by embedding asset management practices across sites and improving asset management maturity through targeted development plans.
  • Define and implement asset management competency frameworks to strengthen organisational capability and support professional development.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing inclusive team including workforce planning performance management capability development and resource allocation.
  • Establish and oversee asset performance and risk frameworks ensuring compliance with statutory regulatory and assurance requirements.
  • Lead the development implementation and optimisation of asset management systems enabling improved data decision-making and lifecycle performance.
  • Build strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders and represent the organisation externally to promote best practice in asset management.

Qualifications :

  • Extensive experience leading asset management in complex operational environments with technically demanding assets.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement asset management strategies and practices that deliver measurable improvements in asset performance.
  • Strong experience embedding new ways of working across organisations including people processes systems and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in driving organisational and cultural change through structured planning engagement and delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations industry standards and best practice (e.g. ISO 55000) and the ability to apply them effectively in complex environments.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence from operational teams to senior leadership.
