Position: District Special Education Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Student Programs
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree preferred.
- Hold an Oklahoma Special Education teaching certificate or related service field licensure.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: Provide technical assistance to school sites regarding IDEA and 504 regulations programming and services.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate special education staff programs and conduct regular meetings involving: site special education coordinators ancillary staff speech-language pathologists psychologists licensed professional counselors 504 coordinators.
- Provide professional development opportunities and support with internal compliance for staff regarding any topic necessitated by district state and/or federal requirements.
- Communicate with staff and families and attend site-based meetings as needed to provide compliance support and facilitate positive student-centered resolution when concerns or questions arise.
- Provide support to site staff regarding special education compliance federal and state regulations and annual student transitions.
- Coordinate Extended School Year services for the district including: training on guidelines and procedures gathering and maintaining student information determining facilities and hiring necessary staff.
- Monitor and maintain district data for homebound/home instruction discipline alternate assessments staff caseloads evaluation data and staffing needs.
- Communicate with the student accountability and assessment office regarding: state and district assessments including accommodations alternate assessments and regulations regarding dually identified students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Terms of Employment: Teacher contract plus 20 days. Salary and work year to be established by Board Policy.
FLSA Qualification: Exempt
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Jenks Public Schools Board of Educations policy on Staff Evaluation (2.20/certified).
