Job Description Summary

Job Description

• Drives tractor-trailer combination while applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations.

• Maneuvers truck into loading and/or unloading position following signals from loading crew as required.

• Drives truck to weigh station before and after loading and along route to document weight incompliance with state regulations.

• Maintains driver log following DOT regulations.

• Inspects truck before and after use and submits report indicating truck condition.

• Reads bill of lading to determine assignment.

• Fastens chains or binders which includes throwing straps to secure loads on trailer during transit.

• Loads unloads or assists in loading and unloading truck.

• Services and maintains truck with oil fuel and radiator fluid.

• Complies with all safety policies practices and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor.

• Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

• Participate in safety engagement activities as required.

• May be required to train other employees as needed.

• May be required to be used as Yard Driver in case of emergencies.

• Other duties as assigned.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

(Minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job or be considered)

Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)

• Valid (CDL) Class A drivers license is required.

• Interstate qualification

• Must meet Lamb Westons driving standards.

Skills and Experience:

• 0 - 1 year related experience and/or training required.

• Independently resolves a variety of routine and non-routine problems seeking assistance on complex matters and tasks.

• Thorough knowledge and experience in the operation of truck equipment including its design uses emergency repair and maintenance.

• Demonstrates basic written verbal interpersonal and manual or mechanical handing skills.

Physical Environment/Demands:

• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.

• Ability to stand walk bend stoop twist and turn frequently.

• Exposed to a noisy environment frequently.

• Exposed to indoor and outdoor environments which vary from hot to cold temperatures.

• Ability to do repetitious arm wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.

• Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead and to work in or under the equipment.

• Requires manual dexterity overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.

• Ability to operate work related equipment.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
