SHERIDAN SCHOOL DISTRICT
TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. 240 day contract (12 month).

2. Job Type: Classified.

3. Reports to: Director of Technology.

4. FLSA Status: Exempt.

5. Salary based on district Classified Salary Schedule for the position.

6. 10 days vacation per year of employment.

7. 12 days sick leave per year of employment.

8. 3 days personal leave per year.


PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited institution.

2. Valid Arkansas drivers license.

3. Must clear Arkansas State Police an FBI and a Central Registry background
checks.

4. Must obtain and keep current all appropriate licenses permits and professional
credentials to meet the requirements of the position.

5. Must be able to demonstrate a strong background in technology in the work
place a strong work ethic good time-management skills and paperwork skills.

6. Expertise in computer operating systems as well as networking infrastructures
software and systems.

7. Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions policies and
procedures. Must be able to meet expected deadlines.

8. Must be attentive to details a self-starter able to work effectively without
constant or direct supervision. Must be able to multitask.

9. Must possess the ability to analyze a problem situation conduct research to find
a solution and present the best manner to achieve a successful resolution.

10. Must possess good communication supervisory and organizational skills.

11. Understands the concept of confidentiality and supports guidelines concerning
the release of public information.

12. Display professionalism in appearance attitude and actions.


GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

1. Assist the Director of Technology with all aspects of the school districts
technology operation as needed.

2. Responsible for general maintenance of the network.

3. Develop and share troubleshooting procedures for hardware and software issues.

4. Assist with coordination and network-related repair requests.

5. Maintain technical documentation required to support the network.

6. Perform maintenance and support of all technology equipment as needed or directed.

7. Serve as a resource person for anyone in the school district who might requiretechnical expertise.

8. Advise the Director of Technology on purchasing and contracting any hardware
and/or software necessary to maintain and/or upgrade technology services.

9. Install district-approved software as needed.

10. Set up new workstations print stations and assignments to default printers as
needed or directed.

11. Assist with the maintenance of inventory and perform record keeping functions of
hardware locations assignments quantities types and required repairs
including start-up and end-of-year processes.

12. Assist with district Active Directory and Google accounts.

13. Manage district E-Rate program; complete forms and applications ensure compliance.

14. Maintain accurate record of software licenses.

15. Maintain accurate records of district technology inventory.

16. Work on workstation peripheral devices (printer external drives scanners etc.).

17. Diagnose install and configure new and replacement hardware components.

18. Address connectivity problems.

19. Install / Troubleshoot / Repair / Upgrade major operating systems used by district.

20. Coordinate information with ADE APSCN and DIS when necessary.

21. Assist with proposal development and bid analysis so that the district schools
will be better able to utilize available technology funds.

22. Assist with securing bids for purchasing technology department items
equipment supplies and place the orders after bids are received prices are
established and business firms are selected.

23. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology
Superintendent or designee.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS and/or REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of technology devices in a variety of work environments. Must be able to walk stand stoop lift and carry at least 40 lbs.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to read and follow a variety of instructions on district state and federal websites as well as hard copy.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondences. Requires the ability to prepare reports forms system documentation etc. using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of grammar.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information to explain procedures to give oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must possess the ability to speak to people with poise voice control and confidence.

Accessibility: Must be available as emergency needs arise throughout the district.
