Key Responsibilities

With Software Solutions (SWS) project execution as background within our Services branch Services the Digital Energy Power System Architect is responsible for:

• Spearheading the design of effective solutions within the context of tenders leveraging GE Vernovas products and technologies. This includes providing cost estimates for these solutions and playing a crucial role in advocating for them during negotiation and demonstration sessions with customers.
• Leading the architecture specification design development implementation and maintenance of power systems and electricity markets application software for nodal and zonal markets including flow-based market projects.
• Leading integration tuning results analysis defect identification and correction for power system applications with a focus on optimization-based software for electricity markets.
• Ensuring adherence to quality assurance standards and procedures throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Managing task planning progress tracking and budget monitoring for assigned projects.
• Contributing to overall project planning including cost estimation risk assessment and mitigation strategy development.
• Establishing and maintain relationships with customers and partners addressing general and specific issues in the area of expertise.
• Providing technical expertise to support business development activities including marketing sales and tendering for proposals and product demonstrations.

Qualifications

• We seek a Masters degree or PhD in Power Systems with a strong background in mathematical optimization and modelling
• Experience in software development and end-to-end delivery
• A good foundation in programming and software fundamentals is a must as well as knowledge in Solution Architectures
• Experience in the European Electricity Market field and Network Flow based solutions is required.

Desired skills and experience

Technical knowledge and experience are expected in the following domains:

• Solid knowledge of power systems particularly in network modeling network analysis and generation control applications.
• Proven experience in leading the implementation of software solutions in the energy domain.
• Familiarity with energy market operations such as flow-based market coupling and balancing markets.
• Experience with DevOps and Agile methodology.
• Experience in C programming; AIMMS software; additional skills in Python Java or similar languages are a plus.
• Experience working in a CI/CD environment (GitHub test automation etc.).

Abilities:

• Experience working with international distributed teams across multiple locations.
• Process and methodology oriented.
• Excellent people skills with a proven ability to lead teams towards common goals; experience with offshore teams is essential.
• Highly collaborative with the ability to work across the organization.
• Capacity to promote continuous improvement.
• Willingness to travel within Europe as needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical designs and solutions to customers.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is a plus.
