The Role

In this role you will leadcustomer focused business development and opportunity identificationfor GM Defense across tactical and operational energy solutions andrelatedopportunities. You will grow ourDefense and Federal Government energysolutionsportfolio including energy storage systemsmobileenergy management and distributionmicrogrid technologiescommercial batteries and energy resilience capabilitieswiththeWar Department/ Department of Defense (DoD)theU.S. Government internationalcustomers and key industry partners.

You will identify and qualify new business shape acquisition approaches with government customers and drivecustomer focused capture managementactivities that convert opportunities into wins working closely with GM Defense and GM enterpriseproduct engineering and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead pipeline development and qualification for tactical and operational energy andrelatedsolutions in support of the GM Defense Long Term Plan and Annual Operating Plan.

  • Maintain a current understanding of customer missions capability gaps budgets and acquisition plans to position GM Defense solutions early.

  • Develop and sustain strong relationships withintheWar Department and other U.S. Government customers Prime Defense contractors strategic partners and industry influencers.

  • Coordinate and lead meetings with customers and teammates to develop requirements acquisition strategies timing and budgets.

  • Partner with the Director Commercial Energy and Manufacturing Solutions to refine and execute the Energy Solutions growth strategy.

  • Work cross functionally with GM Defense and GM enterprise teams to ensure internal alignment product allocation and manufactureofsolutions that support Defense customers.

  • Develop and maintain Capture Plans and lead capture activities including pursuit decisions bid/no bid gates and formal reviews.

  • Collaborate with proposal pricing contracts legal and technical teams to deliver compliant competitive and customer aligned offers.

  • Support development and achievement of GM Defense Annual Operating Plan and Long Term Plan objectives forDefense & FederalGovernmentEnergy Solutions and relatedportfolios andshare best practices across the company.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant business development experience in industry preferably in a government customer facing role.

  • Proven ability to build trust influence and motivate diverse internal and external teams in a dynamic demanding environment.

  • Extensive experience working with War Department/ Department of Defense (DoD) and other U.S. Government Agency leaders with strong understanding of customers missions decision processes and buying processes.

  • Experience developing and executing Capture Plans and leading pursuits from identification through proposal submission.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to create clear compelling customer and internal materials.

  • Strong analytical problem solving and entrepreneurial skills; comfortable operating in a fast paced high technology environment.

  • Team oriented with demonstrated success in highly matrixed organizations.

  • Must be flexible and able to travel worldwide including frequent travel to Washington DC and other customer locations.

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen U.S. permanent resident asylee or refugee).

  • Eligible to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance after hire.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Direct experience identifying and leading capture opportunities and strategic subcontracting opportunities in the Defense and Federal market.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of theFederal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)and related regulations and of multiple contract types (for example IDIQs OTAs) and payment types (for example FFP cost reimbursable T&M).

  • Demonstrated success leading customer focused capture management activities including shaping requirements building competitive strategies and leading color team reviews.

  • Principle basedleaderwhoearnsthe trust and confidence of peers and stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment.

  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance as of the first day of work.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range:$134700 to $207600 with the actual offer based on factors relevant to the position and candidate location.

  • Eligibility after a satisfactory motor vehicle report review to participate in the GM company vehicle evaluation program which provides assignment of a GM vehicle to drive and evaluate (participants are required to purchase or lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless an exception applies).

This position requires eligibility to access classified information at the Secret U.S. Security Clearance level for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. The successful candidate must have eligibility to access classified information at that level.

Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

This role is based remotely but if the selected candidate lives within a specific mile radius of a GM hub they will be expected to report to the location three times a week or other frequency dictated by your manager. The selected candidate will be required to travel on a regular basis (25-50%) for this role. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits. The position is subject to export control restrictions and requires the successful candidate to be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen U.S. permanent resident asylee or refugee).
