SUMMARY: Organizes and administers the performing and visual arts program K-12.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruits selects and assigns performing arts teachers in collaboration with building principals.
- Provides input on program and personnel evaluation for performing and visual arts staff with building principals.
- Orients and trains new performing and visual arts personnel.
- Leads professional and curriculum development.
- Schedules plans and develops agendas for monthly departmental meetings.
- Works with teachers and other instructional personnel in the effective assessment of student learning and the interpretation of data.
- Attends meetings as requested by administration.
- Represents the school district in matters of performing and visual arts.
- Organizes schedules and supervises performing and visual art events with building principals and the district facilities director.
- Coordinates and approves transportation for performing and visual arts activities and makes recommendations to Assistant Superintendent for out of state travel.
- Fosters positive school-parent relations.
- Coordinates positive communication pertaining to district performing arts programs with the district Director of Communication.
- Manages performing and visual arts budgets and acts as purchasing agent for the department in accordance with district purchasing guidelines and bid requirements.
- Maintains central inventory control of equipment and develops plans to provide maintenance for equipment and assign district equipment and supplies to meet needs of all programs.
- Approves with building principal community fundraising efforts for performing and visual arts that meet district policies and procedures.
- Attends major performing and visual arts events as schedule permits.
- Assists building principals and district administrators with scheduling transient performing and visual arts teachers.
- Ensures performance selections of departments are in compliance with state law and district expectations.
- Serves as district liaison to performing and visual arts booster clubs
- Other duties as assigned
