Job Summary

This position is for the full academic year. THIS POSITION IS FOR UPPERCLASSMEN ONLY. FRESHMEN ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR DEPARTMENT POSITIONS.

Expected hours of work per week: 25-35 (divided among students)

Work Location & Hours: Marketing & Communications Office in Carter Hall (under North Porch)

Qualify for Work Study

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Knowledge of videography and photography - shooting and editing video or photos for social media
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong character and integrity
  • Interest in storytelling marketing and social media preferred
  • A flexible schedule to work assigned events on evenings or weekends
  • Comfortable with recruiting fellow students to participate in videos as needed

Expected Responsibilities and Goals:

The ideal candidate loves Covenant and wants to be a part of sharing our story withprospective students parents and alumni. The purpose is to develop visuallycompelling and emotionally engaging content that portrays the community academicexcellence spiritual formation and professional development that a Covenant educationprovides. Our goal for this position is to provide relevant work experience that can beused on your résumé as you enter the workforce after Covenant.

  • Capture photos and videos for social media and other marketing channels using a camera or smartphone
  • Edit photos and videos using Adobes Creative Suite
  • Upload and organize content to our digital asset management system in a timely manner
  • Review upcoming campus events for content ideas
  • Coordinate and schedule times with faculty staff and students when needed for projects (headshots interviews etc.)
  • Assist in planning content for social media
  • Self-motivated capable of working without micromanagement willing to take stewardship over projects solve problems and meet deadlines
  • Be available to attend on and off campus events to capture footage and photos.
  • We expect roughly 80% of work hours to be completed between 8-4:30pm (our office hours) and 20% will be completed during evening and weekend events to capture photos and videos.

Skills you will develop on the job:

  • Hands-on experience working with camera equipment and Adobe Suite editing software
  • Time management and communication skills
  • Developing a better eye for composition and capturing photos and videos that tell a story about Covenant
  • Build a portfolio of creative work that can be shared with potential post-grad employers
  • Exposure to social media planning scheduling and analytics depending on student interest

Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed

  • Career & Self-Development including learning the various processes within a marketing department.
  • Communication in the form of collaborating with campus partners to produce informative content.
  • Critical Thinking in the form of brainstorming feasible content ideas that align with Covenants mission and values.
  • Global Literacy displayed by learning how to care for the various needs of others when it comes to privacy and depiction in photos and by paying attention to the global landscape to know what social media trends can be acted upon or need to be avoided.
  • Leadership through taking the initiative to pitch new project ideas.
  • Professionalism by arriving on-time for shoots dressed in the appropriate attire for the occasion.
  • Teamwork including setting up camera equipment collaborating on content ideas and organizing files to be shared across the team.
  • Technology by increasing your experience with Sony DSLR cameras the Adobe Creative Suite and Mac OS.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
