Job Summary

Location: Fourways Johannesburg
Work model: Hybrid (3 days in-office 2 days at home)
Salary: R45 000 - R65 000 (depending on experience)

About our client
Our client is a small yet global agency specialising in corporate large-scale and purpose-driven conferences and events. Theyre looking for a Design Lead to take ownership of all things creative and become their go-to design person. Right now this is a hands-on standalone role perfect for someone who enjoys autonomy thrives in a fast-moving environment and wants the opportunity to grow a creative function over time.

What the job involves

  • Leading the visual output across a wide variety of design projects

  • Creating high-quality creative for conferences events and branded experiences

  • Designing across multiple formats including multimedia presentations digital assets and event collateral

  • Working at pace in a fast-churn studio environment with quick turnarounds and shifting priorities

  • Bringing a versatile solutions-focused approach to a broad range of design needs

  • Managing the full design process from concept through to rollout and final delivery

  • Ensuring all creative is polished on-brand and produced efficiently

  • Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to bring ideas to life clearly and professionally

  • Identifying opportunities to elevate the creative offering as the business continues to grow

  • Helping shape the future of the creative team with the potential to build and lead it over time

What you need to be considered

  • At least 6 years experience in a design role

  • Strong experience working across a broad range of design outputs not just one niche

  • Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced high-volume studio environment

  • Proven experience producing everything from multimedia design to event collateral

  • A highly efficient self-managed way of working

  • Strong layout typography and visual communication skills

  • Confidence owning the creative function and working independently

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude

  • A portfolio link must be included in your CV no portfolio no response

  • Your portfolio should show breadth: event collateral presentation design digital assets campaign-style thinking and strong brand application

Bonus points if you

  • Have experience in events conferencing or experiential environments

  • Enjoy building systems improving workflows and making the design function run more smoothly

  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset and like spotting opportunities beyond the brief

  • Are excited by the idea of growing into a broader creative leadership role
