Title: Data Engineer II
Rate: $60 - 70/hr on c2c
Location: Arlington VA
Duration: 3 months (with possible extension)
Role Summary
Mastercard is seeking a Data Engineer II to enhance data management for client engagements within the Services group. This role involves developing scalable data pipelines implementing data solutions and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality timely data insights. You will contribute to a high-performance collaborative culture while working on innovative analytics software used globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Design implement and maintain enterprise ETL processes for global data platforms.
- Develop efficient code to ensure timely data availability and accessibility.
- Leverage big data frameworks such as Apache Spark and Hadoop to optimize pipelines.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and solve data quality challenges.
- Support accurate high-value data solutions across multiple clients and industries.
- Apply best practices for version control code review and data validation.
- Use SQL and other database technologies to optimize large-scale data processing.
- Automate routine tasks and streamline data workflows.
- Ensure compliance with Mastercard policies and external regulations
Qualifications
- Experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
- Strong SQL skills for efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark (PySpark Spark SQL Spark Streaming) and the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS/Ozone Hive YARN).
- Familiarity with ETL frameworks and pipeline design.
- Understanding of data modeling and database design principles.
- Proficiency in Python and troubleshooting data issues independently.
- Basic knowledge of testing and validating data accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelors degree in engineering Mathematics Finance Business or related field (or equivalent experience).

- Team Role: Assist stakeholders with extracting transforming and visualizing data from the Mastercard Data Warehouse.

- Typical Day: Collaborate with PM and teammates create/run/optimize queries in Impala and Spark build PySpark jobs monitor job execution ingest data into SQL Server generate client dashboards and resolve blockers.
