Job Summary
The Group Cost Controller is responsible for overseeing and optimizing cost management across all manufacturing plants and business units within the pharmaceutical group. The role will lead cost accounting financial analysis budgeting and cost optimization initiatives to improve profitability and operational efficiency. The position works closely with plant finance teams procurement supply chain and operations to ensure accurate cost reporting standard costing practices and effective cost control across the organization.
Key Responsibilities 1. Group Cost Management

Develop and implement group-wide cost control strategies across manufacturing plants and business units.

Monitor and analyze production costs including raw materials packaging materials labor and overheads.

Establish and maintain standardized costing methodologies across the group.

Track and report cost trends variances and profitability by product plant and business unit.
2. Cost Accounting & Analysis
-
Oversee product costing bill of materials (BOM) costing and standard costing processes.
-
Conduct detailed variance analysis (material labor overhead and yield).
-
Analyze manufacturing efficiency wastage and production yields to identify improvement opportunities.
-
Provide actionable insights to support pricing product profitability and portfolio decisions.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
-
Lead the cost planning process during annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles.
-
Work with plant finance teams to develop cost budgets for manufacturing operations.
-
Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
4. Inventory & Working Capital Management
-
Ensure accurate inventory valuation across plants and warehouses.
-
Monitor stock levels slow-moving inventory and obsolescence provisions.
-
Strengthen inventory control processes and support periodic stock counts and reconciliations.
5. Financial Reporting
-
Prepare group-level cost performance reports and dashboards for senior management.
-
Provide cost insights to support monthly financial reviews and management reporting.
-
Support profitability analysis by product brand and market.
6. Process Improvement & Systems
-
Drive improvements in costing systems reporting tools and ERP utilization.
-
Standardize cost reporting processes across plants.
-
Support implementation and optimization of ERP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle or similar).
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Work closely with manufacturing procurement supply chain and commercial teams to improve cost efficiency.

Provide financial guidance on sourcing strategies production planning and operational efficiency initiatives.

Support strategic decision-making related to product portfolio and manufacturing optimization.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Economics or related field.
-
Professional qualification such as ACCA ICAN CPA or CIMA strongly preferred.
-
10 15 years of experience in finance or cost accounting with significant experience in manufacturing or pharmaceutical industry.
-
Proven experience managing multi-plant or group-level cost control functions.
-
Strong knowledge of standard costing inventory accounting and manufacturing finance.
-
Experience with ERP systems (SAP Oracle Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
