Recruiting for an experienced Physician Assistant to perform diversified clinical duties in support of the CMC physician practice. Collaborates with the CTSA surgeons in the delivery of care and treatment to patients. Will share call times equally to provide consistent coverage on nights weekends and holidays. Call coverage includes CVOR and inpatient calls overnight.

Qualified Candidates:

• Surgical first assist/and vein harvests in the OR and performs procedures at the beside as described by the surgical physician assistant core privileges.

• Gathers pertinent information interviews patients and performs physical examinations on patients within established standards of care and practice.

• Writes orders including diagnostic tests and medication after consultationwith the appropriate physician to accomplish a long-term plan of care.

• Need to be self-sufficient and fairly autonomous in rounding on step-down patients and seeing office patients.

• Dictates history physicals and surgical consults promptly daily assessments.

• Performs daily assessments of patients as directed by the physicians to include relevant interval history physical exam and review of objective data and records in medical record.

• Utilizes critical thinking to provide care for 8-15 patients fairly independently while covering step-down unit.

• Provides backup for clinical emergencies when the rounding physician is not immediately available during regular daytime hours.

• Actively participates in staff meetings.

• Ideal candidate should be flexible affable creative energetic compassionate and a team player.

• Must have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursingphysiciansand administration

About the Practice:
Well-establishedhigh volumeprogramcomprisedof 3 surgeons and a dedicated team of APPs.The APP team works witha high levelof autonomy supported bythe cardiacsurgeons.

The program performs a comprehensive spectrum of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery services including coronary artery bypass grafting valve repair and replacement complex aortic surgery endovascular treatment of aneurysms minimally invasive cardiac valvular surgical procedures (including TAVRs) arrhythmia surgery as well as advanced heart failure treatments including ECMO and VADs.
