Mount Vernon Independent School District seeks an innovative student-driven leader for Superintendent of Schools beginning June 15 2026.
Mount Vernon ISD has approximately 1600 students and 220 employees serving grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district is located in Franklin County located on Interstate 30 between Dallas and Texarkana. Mount Vernon has a strong sense of community and takes pride in their schools often expressed through the saying we bleed purple. Mount Vernon ISD boasts excellent schools offering various opportunities that extend beyond the classroom making it a fantastic place to raise a family. Job Requirements:
Masters Degree in educational administration from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas Superintendent Certificate
Five years of leadership in school administration in a Texas school district

Experience in school leadership preferably in a Central Office role
Possess the ability to have hard conversations and maintain an open-door policy for community engagement.

Creative problem-solving skills to maximize resource needs while thinking outside the box for future opportunities.
Effective communication with staff students and the community is vital along with the ability to make tough decisions that support the districts goals
