Job Summary
TYLins City Solutions Practice is seeking a Transportation Planner/ Transportation Engineer with 2 to 5 years of experience to join our Transportation Planning team in the Greater Toronto Area. This role supports the development of municipal transportation master plans multi-modal mobility strategies transportation impact assessments and functional and conceptual design projects across Ontario and select Canadian markets.
This position is suited to being a planner or engineer with demonstrated professional experience and a strong technical background in transportation planning and mobility and a passion for designing safe and accessible communities in alignment with leading industry guidelines. The candidate should be comfortable in preparing GIS mapping and spatial analysis developing conceptual and functional drawings in AutoCAD or Civil 3D and contributing directly to technical deliverables. Knowledge and experience with traffic parking and curb LOS analysis is beneficial. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with transportation planners traffic engineers urban designers and other professionals across TYLin and our sister firms.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
Duties & Responsibilities
- Contribute to municipal transportation master plans secondary plan mobility strategies corridor studies and MTSA/TOC/TOD studies including data analysis technical mapping report writing and preparation of stakeholder materials.
- Support interdisciplinary municipal infrastructure and urban development projects by providing transportation planning and technical analysis.
- Prepare and contribute to transportation impact studies (TIS) parking demand studies and site access reviews in accordance with municipal standards and leading industry practices.
- Participate in client progress meetings and public consultations including preparing technical materials and graphics to support client presentations and public engagement.
- Prepare GIS mapping spatial analysis and technical figures using ArcGIS for reports and presentations.
- Develop and edit conceptual and functional design drawings using AutoCAD or Civil 3D to support planning and infrastructure assignments.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals budgets and schedules for transportation planning and traffic engineering consultation and design projects.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation industry issues and best-in-class mobility practices.
- Collaborate with internal sectors and sister firms on integrated mobility and urban development projects across Ontario and in other provinces and internationally as opportunities arise.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in planning engineering or related fields.
- 2 to 5 years of professional experience in transportation planning or traffic engineering.
- Experience working with Ontario municipalities or reviewing agencies is preferred.
- Working toward or eligible for RPP . or equivalent professional designation.
- Demonstrated experience required:
- Municipal transportation master plans or secondary plan mobility studies.
- Preparation of transportation impact studies (TIS) traffic operational assessments and parking demand studies.
- Functional or conceptual design of active transportation infrastructure intersections roadways or transit facilities.
- Transportation data analysis including traffic counts turning movement counts and multimodal data.
- Application of Ontario municipal and MTO standards and industry guidelines (OTM Books NACTO etc.)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Civil 3D for conceptual and functional drawings.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS for mapping and spatial analysis.
- Assets:
- Experience using traffic operations or modelling software such as Synchro SimTraffic Vissim EMME or AutoTURN.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator.
- Experience working with emerging transportation data sources such as StreetLight Replica mobile device data or other large multimodal datasets.
- Soft Skills:
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including preparation of technical reports and stakeholder presentations.
- Strong commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in technical delivery to solve clients toughest challenges and facilitate technical excellence in project outputs.
- Elevated level of integrity doing the right thing in an ethical and fair way while always upholding professional demeanor.
