Mana Awhi is seeking an exceptional nurse leader to guide and inspire our nursing workforce as we deliver specialist care for older adults across Tāmaki Makaurau. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a service grounded in dignity compassion and excellence.

About Mana Awhi

Mana Awhi is part of the Older Peoples Health service at Auckland City Hospital. We provide comprehensive personcentred care for people who may be:

  • Experiencing health changes associated with advancing age
  • Recovering from illness injury or surgery
  • Requiring rehabilitation to regain independence
  • Living with conditions that impact daily functioning and wellbeing

Our team works in partnership with patients whānau and multidisciplinary colleagues to support safe recovery restore independence and enhance quality of life.

About the Role

As the Nurse Leader for Mana Awhi you will hold professional clinical and operational leadership responsibility for all nursing roles within the service. This position carries significant accountability and influence shaping the quality culture and performance of nursing practice across the unit.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading clinical quality safety and evidencebased practice
  • Overseeing workforce development recruitment and professional growth
  • Managing daytoday operational activity to support patient flow and service efficiency
  • Ensuring high standards of care documentation and patient experience
  • Contributing to and implementing nursing and servicewide strategies
  • Working collaboratively with the service leadership team to ensure cohesive effective operations

You will champion best practice foster a supportive and highperforming team culture and ensure that care delivery is safe efficient and aligned with the needs of older people and their whānau.

About You

As an ideal person for this role will have:

  • Proven senior nursing leadership experience
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Have completed or be working towards a Postgraduate Certificate Diploma or Masters degree
  • Strong clinical credibility in acute rehabilitation or older peoples health settings
  • Excellent communication relationshipbuilding and teamdevelopment skills
  • A commitment to equity cultural safety and personcentred care
  • The ability to lead through complexity influence change and drive continuous improvement

This role is ideal for a nurse leader who is passionate about older peoples health and motivated to shape a service that delivers outstanding care and upholds the mana of every person we serve.
