Other Conditions:General funds contingent upon fund availability. Appointment to begin August 2026. Selectee is required to complete the COE New Faculty orientation in the first year Title IX training other required training and must undergo and pass a criminal background check.


Duties:

  • Develop refine and coordinate the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program for the college with an emphasis with Hawaii Department of Education CTE goals and objectives and national priorities;
  • Collaborate with School of Teacher Education (STE) stakeholders including colleagues at the university school-level personnel and community leaders to enhance Statewide Workforce Development in Career and Technical Education (CTE) including educator pathways and development;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence at the university level;
  • Develop and teach undergraduate post-baccalaureate and graduate courses in CTE-related curriculum and field-based teacher preparation in face-to-face and/or via a variety of distance delivery modes;
  • Supervise mentor and coordinate teacher candidates in field-based settings;
  • Advise graduate students;
  • Seek and write extramural funding to support teacher education and teacher education partnerships;
  • Develop an active research and publication agenda contributing to CTE and teacher education;
  • Provide service to the university Hawaii P-12 schools and professional community;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned Doctorate from an accredited institution in Education or equivalent degree from an accredited institution;will consider ABD if degree completed by the date of hire.
  • One or more years of full-time teaching experience in one or more of the CTE Pathways as defined by the HIDOE.
  • Knowledge of current CTE Pathways as defined by the HIDOE.
  • Experience using technology in teaching and distance education.
  • Evidence of an active or emerging research agenda contributing to teacher education and/or one or more of the CTE Career Pathways as defined by the HIDOE.
  • Three or more years of full time P-12 classroom teaching experience as the teacher of record.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience that provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of full-time industry experience in at least one of the CTE Pathways as defined by the Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE) including educator pathways and development.
  • One or more years of full-time teaching experience in an accredited institution of higher education in teacher education.
  • Experience providing professional development to educators.
  • Experience working with place-based educational approaches.
  • Experience collaborating with schools and/or businesses on projects.
  • Demonstrated evidence of applying educational ethics in one or more of the CTE pathways as defined by the HIDOE.
  • Experience developing community partnerships in one or more of the CTE pathways as defined by the HIDOE.
  • Evidence of successful grant writing to support teacher education and teacher education partnerships.
  • Evidence of an active or emerging research agenda contributing to teacher education with a focus in one or more of the CTE pathways as defined by the HIDOE.
  • Demonstrated success teaching students from different backgrounds and diverse learning needs including special needs or English language learner populations.
