Job Summary

Working from within the Clients & Marketing team as the First Nations Strategic Pursuits Lead your primary responsibility will be to bring First Nations expertise to AECOMs strategic pursuits in compliance with client requirements resulting in AECOM projects that are culturally informed and deliver improved social value outcomes for First Nations communities. 

You will be responsible for maintaining cultural probity within your own work and that of the Strategic Pursuits Team ensuring that AECOMs work is culturally appropriate respectful of First Nations communities and is consistent with external policies best practices and contemporary expectations.  

Working at all times to care for Country your work will enable the preparation of strategic pursuits and delivery of projects that maintain cultural integrity and improve the lives of the people from the communities in which we work. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  •  Provide First Nations Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to support bid preparation and project delivery including inputs relating to First Nations suppliers recruiters and training organisations. 
  • Maintain cultural probity and ensure First Nations intellectual and cultural property is respected in AECOM workstreams. 
  • Advocate for First Nations perspectives across AECOMs operations aligning with Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) pillars. 
  • Build and maintain supply chain training and recruitment options and strategic relationships with external stakeholders to uplift AECOMs First Nations agenda. 
  • Stay abreast of socio-political issues influencing First Nations communities to guide best practices.

  • Champion First Nations perspectives ensuring cultural integrity in AECOMs strategic pursuits and project delivery. 
  • Drive meaningful engagement with First Nations communities businesses and stakeholders to create lasting positive impacts. 
  • Promote reconciliation goals across AECOMs operations aligning with RAP pillars and fostering cultural awareness. 
  • Influence market opportunities by embedding First Nations expertise into AECOMs strategic initiatives. 
  • Advocate for First Nations best practices contributing to improved outcomes for communities and clients. 

Qualifications :

  • High level of cultural competency and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities. 
  • Established stakeholder engagement skills with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Exposure to Indigenous Procurement Plans Indigenous Participation Plans and Reconciliation Action Plans. 
  • Working knowledge of Aboriginal Land Councils Aboriginal Corporations Native Title legislation and First Nations procurement. 
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent professional experience. 
  • Prior experience in a medium to large-sized corporate environment is beneficial but not essential. 
  • Genuine occupational requirement: The candidate must identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.
