Job Description

An ambitious university requires committed support for its students and scholars. Within the Library and Information Services (LIS) the library ( is responsible for a wide range of services. One of its core tasks is to develop and teach information literacy. Information literacy focuses on professional and responsible use of information within the academic process.

The position
Your role as Information Literacy Teacher involves a range of teaching and educational development activities with the main target group being undergraduate and graduate students of all TU/e departments.
We are looking for an enthusiastic education professional to help shape our information literacy education. Organizationally the position falls within the product area Library and Open Science.
Your main tasks will be:

  • Adapting existing and creating new educational materials and services.
  • Providing on-campus training and workshops to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Providing support to students researchers and other university staff concerning information literacy-related topics.
  • Assessing assignments and providing appropriate feedback.
  • Helping organize a series of extracurricular workshops on information literacy topics such as AI literacy.

You will be part of a small but visible team of three educational professionals. The team sometimes also provides support/advice towards the development of training and educational materials in other areas of the LIS service.

Job Requirements

Who are you

  • You have completed at least an academic masters degree. A professional background/degree in teaching students in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • You have verifiable knowledge of research skills are adept at handling scientific information and have a keen interest in teaching methods for academic skills education. Experience with developing e-learning courses is considered an advantage. This experience may have been acquired through academic coursework during your studies or you may have gained professional experience in an academic environment.
  • You have demonstrable experience and affinity with teaching young adults.
  • You can adapt your teaching style and educational materials to different types of students and varying group sizes. You are communicative precise proactive and a team player. You are eager to learn and have a flexible attitude.
  • The formal language of communication at TU/e is English. Therefore a strong command of the English language (at least CEFR-C1) is a requirement. You should be able to communicate effectively and accurately in both spoken and written English. Proficiency in the Dutch language is considered an advantage.

Conditions of Employment

An exciting position within an international yet personal university. You are right in the middle of the students on a green campus within walking distance of the central station. Besides beautiful architecture you will find varied workplaces and excellent sports facilities. We also offer you:

  • You will be working on a green lively and international campus in a professional product team where we work 50% of our time on campus preferable between Mondays and Thursdays.
  • It concerns an employment contract for the period of one year with the intention to extend the employment contract after one year or to convert it into a permanent position.
  • Depending on knowledge and experience the full-time gross salary per month amounts to a minimum of 3546 and a maximum of 5538 for 38 hours (in accordance with scale
    10 of CAO NU).
  • In addition to vacation pay a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
