Job Summary

Assessment Specialist (Certified)

- Part-Time position without benefits

- Total hours per week: 19.5-22.5 hours (TBD in coordination with employee)

- Training will be provided

- District Position under direct supervision of Special Education Director

- Location: For 2026-2027 only Montgomery Ridge Intermediate and Foothills Elementary; - - Starting in 2027-2028 the district will have a grade band shift and school site locations will be determined at a later date

- Mileage reimbursement available per district guidelines

Essential Functions:

  1. Administration and communication of testing results including report writing for achievement testing (examples-reading writing math)
  2. Provide support to school psychologists including (but not limited to) writing reports and conducting classroom observations of students
  3. Collecting and inputting data into the TN PULSE portal for re-evaluations
  4. Attending scheduled re-evaluation meetings on behalf of school psychologists reviewing existing data with the IEP team coordinating conversation about eligibility collecting necessary IEP team member signatures writing a Prior Written Notice (under school psych supervision) and uploading documents to TN PULSE upon conclusion of re-evaluation/eligibility
  5. Classroom observations of students undergoing evaluation and typed synopsis provided to school psychologist
  6. Other reasonable job duties as Assessment Specialist has availability

Qualifications & Desired Qualities in a Candidate:

  1. Current TN license as a certified teacher (general or special education); Must have a masters degree or higher in education
  2. Demonstrate the ability to organize and synthesize verbal and written data
  3. Demonstrate the ability to conduct achievements assessments (training will be provided)
  4. Demonstrate the ability to conduct classroom observations and write objective narratives (to be provided to the school psychologist)
  5. Respond to a variety of stakeholder requests and manage timelines
  6. Strong time management skills flexibility and ability to work independently and problem solve. This position has a high degree of autonomy and requires self-management.
  7. Ability to use data to guideevaluations/eligibility and recommendations to stakeholders
  8. Ability to collaborate with colleagues and team members
  9. Understanding and use of technology to facilitateevaluations and communication
  10. Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards
  11. Ability to lead small teams in decision making utilizing collaborative strategies
  12. Ability to demonstrate irreproachable loyalty to school staff and administration
