This is a hands-on AWS Operations role responsible for full-lifecycle ownership of cloud infrastructure production support and end-to-end observability across a large-scale Kubernetes environment.

This team operates in a true 24/7 production operations model. The majority of time is spent responding to alerts isolating faults identifying trends and patterns and restoring service health across AWS-hosted applications. This is not a build-only engineering role - this is real-time operational ownership.

The team supports mission-critical customer engagement platforms and owns infrastructure security compliance and production stability from cradle to grave.

AWS Infrastructure Ownership
  • Own infrastructure build and teardown processes for production (up to 10 full rebuilds per week)
  • Build environments from scratch using the latest hardened base AMIs to reduce CVEs
  • Manage:
    • EKS
    • Security Groups
    • WAF
    • ALB/NLB
    • Global Accelerator
    • MFA compliance controls
  • Ensure lower environments mirror upper environments appropriately
  • Own GitLab infrastructure pipelines
Kubernetes & Deployment Support
  • Deploy Kubernetes objects and manage scaling strategies
  • Support application deployments without writing application code
  • Investigate deployment failures using logs and observability tools
  • Ensure environment consistency across pods and clusters
End-to-End Observability (Critical Requirement)
  • Implement and maintain full observability strategy
  • Use Datadog and Splunk for:
    • Log analysis
    • Metric correlation
    • API monitoring
    • Fault isolation
  • Integrate alerting workflows into xMatters
  • Drive actionable monitoring improvements
Security & Compliance

Required Experience

  • Deep Kubernetes operational experience (EKS preferred)
  • Proven ability to perform fault isolation across distributed systems
  • Experience with:
    • Datadog
    • Splunk
    • xMatters (or similar alert routing tools)
    • GitLab pipelines (infrastructure-focused)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Security Groups
    • WAF
    • Load balancers (ALB/NLB)
    • Global Accelerator
  • Experience owning production incidents from alert to resolution
  • Comfort operating in a 24/7 on-call environment

The CDS Ops role uniquely spans the full cloud delivery lifecycle owning both infrastructure and application automation on AWS via GitLab pipelines. It combines platform engineering DevOps SRE and SecOps skills: building AWS environments with Terraform and services like WAF Security Groups ALB/NLB Global Accelerator Kubernetes and databases; deploying applications with Kubernetes objects Helm charts and service mesh; and implementing end-to-end observability and incident workflows. The role delivers actionable monitoring with Datadog and Splunk-correlating API anomalies with infrastructure signals-and routes alerts through xMatters into a 24x7 SOC process. It also enforces security compliance by maintaining hardened AWS base AMIs to minimize CVEs managing exceptions and meeting cyber metrics. These capabilities are typically split across multiple departments which makes this single role uniquely valuable.
