Hardware EngineerWhat does a great Hardware Engineer do at Fiserv
As a Hardware Engineer you will support our Hazelwood MO production facility by driving reliability and performance across print inserter and production mail systems. You will partner closely with Technical Engineers (TEs) maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot complex hardware optimize workflows and reduce downtime. Your work will help ensure we meet client commitments through safe efficient and highly available production operations.
What youll do:
- Research market and technology trends to identify improvements in production workflows downtime reduction and maintenance repair efficiency.
- Analyze production performance data and failure modes to prioritize hardware improvements and preventive maintenance strategies.
- Diagnose troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware issues on production equipment to support Technical Engineers (TEs) and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Design implement and maintain network-connected production hardware ensuring reliable connectivity throughput and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements plan upgrades and execute projects for print inserter and mail systems.
- Develop document and update standard work instructions troubleshooting guides and equipment configuration records for knowledge sharing.
- Apply Lean and Continuous Improvement principles to drive data-based process enhancements and maintenance best practices.

Experience youll need to have:
- 4 years of experience in a hardware production maintenance or Technical Engineer role supporting complex electro-mechanical or networked production equipment.
- 7 years of experience with print inserter or production mail systems in a high-volume production environment.
- 7 years of project or program management experience leading equipment workflow or reliability improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP VLANs VPNs DNS DHCP and Wi-Fi with hands-on experience configuring and supporting networked hardware.
- Experience with production data analysis metrics development and reporting using tools such as Excel or similar analytics solutions.
- Demonstrated application of Lean principles in a Continuous Improvement environment including use of structured problem-solving methods.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools including Excel Outlook and PowerPoint to create analyses presentations and status reporting.
- Bachelors degree in computer science information technology engineering industrial maintenance or a related field or equivalent combination of education related experience and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- 7 years of experience troubleshooting complex production hardware in a print or mail operations environment.
- Experience with IP5000 HP roll-to-roll printers and Ricoh cut sheet printers.
- Experience with BlueCrest APS MPS EPIC inserting equipment and APEX or Criterion sorters.
- 7 years of management or supervisory experience leading maintenance or production teams.
How youll work:
- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
- This role requires flexibility to work on-call overtime including weekends and holidays.
- This role requires frequent moving and/or carrying of materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- This role requires the ability to stand for a majority of the shift; safely lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; lift above your shoulders; and climb squat kneel twist push and bend frequently during each shift.
