Type of Employment: Part-Time no more than 30 hours per week

Estimated Period of Performance: 15 May 2026 14 November 2031

Estimate Pay: $32.83 - $37.92 per hour.

Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year occurring on day one.

Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year occurring on day one.

Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (12) Paid Federal Holidays

Working Hours
The Certified Radiological Technician will normally work Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break except on Federal holidays. The Certified Phlebotomist will work only six (6) hours per day no more than 30 hours a week.

Summary of Duties
The Certified Radiological Technician at FCIElkton performs routine and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures for the Adults in Custody (AIC) population ensuring highquality imaging that supports accurate clinical decisionmaking. The technician independently positions patients selects appropriate technical exposure factors and operates digital radiography equipment including GE Definium systems and Fuji DriPix technology. Responsibilities include transmitting and retrieving images electronically maintaining accurate records within the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR) and coordinating with radiologists medical staff and consultants to support continuity of care.

Qualifications

  • Be a graduate from an accredited school or program for a Radiological Technologist.
  • Must be licensed to perform radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
  • Must have an unrestricted state license to practice in the state of Ohio as a Radiological Technologist.
  • Knowledge and use of GE Definum 800 and Definium 5000 digital x-ray machines.
  • Knowledge and use of Fuji Dri-Pix 5000 image copier for digital radiological
  • equipment.
  • Three (3) letters of reference.
  • Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination.
  • Annual proof of tuberculin skin test or chest radiography.
  • Must hold current CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.

Attire

The Certified Phlebotomist is required to maintain a professional appearance consistent with clinical standards. Attire must include clean appropriate medical scrubs closed-toe protective footwear and any necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves masks and eyewear. All clothing and accessories must comply with facility safety protocols and present a neat hygienic and professional image at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

The current Certified Phlebotomist Assistant will:

  • Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the AIC population.
  • Transmit retrieve X-ray images and report electronically and scan reports into the Adults in Custody (AICs) Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
  • Receive training to retrieve radiographic consultants from BEMR and schedule them to perform all radiographic procedures.
  • Work with an AIC population from a variety of cultural racial religious and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs. Possess knowledge of basic emergencies that may occur during special radiographic procedures.
  • Schedule exams and maintain records.
  • Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
  • Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam.
  • Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety. Independently perform all radiographic procedures i.e. chest bone skull spine and portable x-rays etc.
  • Notify the Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while the patient is undergoing an exam so that additional views or exams can be ordered if needed.
  • Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care. Work with the Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
  • Act as liaison between radiologist and medical staff.
  • Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.
  • Assist with the gathering of information for Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) reports.
  • The X-ray technician will submit quarterly reports printed from their computer on the total number of drawings for that period.
  • Other job-related responsibilities are required for a licensed X-ray technician.
