Role Overview:
The Head of Data Technology and IT Partnership is a dual-role executive responsible for leading enterprise data technology strategy fostering strong partnerships with IT and driving the delivery of strategic initiatives through agile execution. This role ensures that data platforms architecture and capabilities align with business goals while also owning and guiding the execution of high-impact data epics across delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Technology Leadership
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CDO on the corporate data technology & IT objectives strategy and planning supporting decision-making communications and organizational alignment.
- From a business perspective own the corporate data technology roadmap including data platforms cloud strategy and architecture in close collaboration and alignment with the IT divisions.
- Influence the development and maintenance of scalable secure and high-performing data infrastructure.
- Drive the transformation towards a data-centric IT design and delivery.
- Lead innovation in data engineering analytics and AI/ML enablement in close collaboration with the IT divisions.
- Ensure alignment of data technology investments with business priorities and regulatory requirements.
IT Partnership & Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison between business teams and IT for all data topics ensuring seamless integration of data solutions with enterprise systems.
- Collaborate with IT leadership on infrastructure cybersecurity and application lifecycle management.
- Drive joint initiatives around data modernization data-centric application design cloud migration and platform consolidation.
- Serve as the Business Owner for strategic data epics ensuring alignment with business outcomes and value delivery.
- Monitor progress remove impediments and ensure timely delivery of epic objectives.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor a team of data project managers and experts.
- Promote a culture of collaboration innovation and continuous improvement.
- Drive internal communications ensuring transparency and alignment across data teams and stakeholders.
- Support talent development and growth planning within the Data Office.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership
- Engage with senior business leaders to understand strategic needs and translate them into technology solutions.
- Champion a data-driven culture and agile mindset across the organization.
- Lead change management efforts related to data platform adoption and agile transformation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Systems Data Engineering or related field.
- 10 years of experience in data technology leadership and strategy IT collaboration and agile delivery.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver complex data initiatives.
- Deep expertise in data architecture cloud platforms (expertise in MS Azure is a strong asset) and data engineering.
- Strong understanding of agile frameworks especially SAFe and experience with epic lifecycle management.
- Strong bias towards practical solutions a solid connection with business reality and a pragmatic approach to deliver result in a steady pace.
- Strong ability to recognize synergies and interdependencies across data-driven initiatives enabling holistic and innovative approaches to problem-solving.
- Excellent stakeholder management communication and strategic planning skills.
- Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g. Collibra) and agile tools.
- Experience in matrixed or global organizations is a plus.
- Strategic thinker with a strong execution mindset.
- Skilled at navigating ambiguity and driving clarity.
- Influential communicator with a collaborative approach.
