About the role
We are recruiting for a detail focused Senior Librarian to join the Library and Information Services team within the Information Technology Office.
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the worlds leading research institutes and help shape its future. As the Senior Librarian youll play a key role in delivering user centred scientific information services supporting open research practices and managing essential research metadata.
This wide ranging role combines operational and strategic responsibilities working closely and occasionally deputising with the Head of Library Information Services and providing leadership across the team. Youll oversee core library systems (including CRIS and repositories) manage acquisitions support citation and reference management contribute to search and systematic review services and play an important part in institutewide reporting.
Its an ideal position for someone with broad library experience who is excited by variety collaboration and the chance to influence how research information is supported across the Crick.
What you will be doing
You will:
Manage the library systems including the CRIS and repositories in collaboration with the scholarly communications and data management librarians
Ensure that information kept within library systems is accurate and fit for purpose
Manage the process of buying and providing access to new and continuing resources
Support researchers to comply with mandatory policies and research assessment exercises
Provide formatted references for PhD projects and the Cricks research management needs.
Work with researchers funding bodies and other stakeholders to ensure our acquisitions and discovery workflows are aligned with best practice
Serve as an escalation route for complex queries from other members of the team
Deputise for the Head of LIS where required

About you
You will have:
Experience working in a HE research NHS or special library*
Excellent domain knowledge of academic publication and policies relating to open research*
Excellent knowledge of reference management software*
Familiarity with journal acquisitions processes*
Excellent knowledge of search tools and techniques including an understanding of AI search
Experience of using knowledge management systems and tracking actions using spreadsheets/databases*
Postgraduate library qualification or a CILIP (or equivalent) professional registration (Desirable)
Good understanding of library management software and technologies or a willingness to quickly upskill around new technology (Desirable)
