Rate of Pay: 25.19 - 33.22 per hour
Summary:
Westminster is not your average local authority. As a Senior Planning Officer you will be at the heart of one of the most high-profile and commercially significant urban environments in the UK. This role sits within the Place Shaping and Town Planning Directorate where you will manage a diverse portfolio of complex planning applications that directly impact the architectural heritage and future skyline of the City of will act as a technical lead balancing the needs of major landowners and developers with the Councils commitment to sustainable growth and conservation.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing and processing complex strategically significant planning applications in accordance with the Planning Acts and Westminsters City Plan.
- Preparing authoritative high-quality professional reports and recommendations for the Planning Committee or delegated senior officers.
- Leading sensitive consultations and meetings with Ward Councillors Chief Officers Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and amenity societies.
- Deputising for the Area Planning Officer when required providing mentorship to junior staff and assisting with team workload distribution.
- Serving as a professional face for the service at internal and external meetings maintaining the Councils reputation for excellence.
Qualifications:
- A Degree or Diploma in Town Planning or a closely related discipline
- Eligibility for or current Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is highly desirable and preferred for Band 3 seniority.
Essentials:
- Deep current knowledge of UK planning law and the nuances of the planning system.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and GIS tools used for spatial analysis and planning tracking.
