About the Team


The Policy Profession is a small team playing a big role in delivering Ofcoms Transformation Programme. This sets out an ambitious direction for our organisation both in terms of what we will do and how we will do it. The way policy colleagues work the tools we use and the methods at our disposal will need to adapt for the plan to succeed.

Our mission is to help strengthen policymaking and we have a strong track record delivering training and development hosting events and building a professional community for policy colleagues. We are also responsible for delivering Agile Policymaking which will be a fundamental part of Ofcoms transformation. The team is growing to help us achieve the ambitious and exciting plans ahead.

Purpose of the Role


The Policy Profession is in the exciting position of recruiting new members to the core team. There are two Senior Associate roles available. As Senior Associate you will report to the Principal Lead of the Profession.

We are a small team and you will be involved in the day to day running of the Profession as well as taking ownership of important deliverables. You will project manage and help deliver key workstreams as well as contributing to our strategic direction by sharing your insights and ideas for change.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Project managing a workstream or projects that are a core part of the Ofcom-wide Transformation programme. Managing multiple deadlines paying close attention to detail and being proactive to ensure work runs focus for the next 12 months will be on building a greater organisational understanding of how we develop policy and run policy projects in order to bring clarity and strengthen these processes.

  • Playing a key role in the delivery of specialist training for policy colleagues. Youll bring your expertise in this area or gain new knowledge in order to help design and deliver quality training.

  • Supporting other workstreams and deliverables by working closely with the team and other colleagues across Ofcom as needed.

  • Sharing your ideas feedback and insight to help guide our teams strategy. Contributing practically and strategically (e.g. by sharing your ideas and creative suggestions) to the work of the Policy Profession.

  • Working closely with more junior colleagues to help them manage their work and grow their skills whilst delivering our plans.

  • Supporting the team in preparing materials for senior management reviews and meetings with senior leaders. Helping us to monitor and track the impact of our work to ensure we are always progressing toward our goals.

  • Executing plans: You will possess first-class organisational skills. Youll be able to demonstrate how you have identified and prioritised tasks to create and deliver effective project plans and shown attention to detail.

  • Harmonising Work: Youll be able to demonstrate how youve worked with others to ensure projects run smoothly and deadlines are met.

  • Forming relationships: Communicating professionally with a range of senior stakeholders or key decision-makers. Youll be engaging with diverse colleagues and building a network of contacts across Policy Teams so wed like to see how youve been a good communicator who can build productive relationships with others.

  • You will be able to demonstrate an interest in the areas we regulate and how we work as a regulator. Youll be able to share your ideas and creativity to help the team strengthen policymaking across Ofcom. -

  • Experience in policy development either through experience or learned knowledge; ideally in a regulatory context.

  • Embracing change: Flexibility and adaptability. You will be able to pivot to new tasks or tackle new questions as we engage with our diverse portfolio of work.
