PGM Laboratory Supervisor

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a PGM Laboratory Supervisor to join our team here in Liverpool UK.

Reporting to the Senior Laboratory Supervisor the post holder is functionally responsible for ensuring the section operates to the highest standard. The supervisor must pragmatically organise and train staff for maximum productivity prioritising company interests and making difficult decisions to maximize throughput.

The post holder will supervise laboratory technicians ensuring full compliance with work habits safety company policies standards test result accuracy attitude attendance and all other aspects of job performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support in ensuring that the workforce is sufficiently motivated skilled and properly trained to meet the operational needs of the business. It is the post holders responsibility to inform the laboratory senior supervisor of continual resourcing difficulties and/or operational problems.
• Ensuring at all times that a high degree of accuracy and precision is applied to analyses through incorporating and promoting good laboratory practice principles. Also the post holder must ensure that work throughput is followed in accordance with documented methods and procedures. It is the post holders responsibility to inform the laboratory senior supervisor of any failure in compliance to documented methods.
• Ensure all direct reports are working in a safe and effective environment.
• Being functionally responsible for providing technical advice and support to the laboratory staff as required on technical problems acting in a trouble shooting capacity to their direct reports.
• Maintaining and updating training of staff and agreeing the training goals and development targets of staff with the laboratory senior supervisor.
• To ensure full compliance with the companys ISO 17025 and ISO 14001 certifications.

Essential

• Possesses the knowledge and understanding for analysing a wide and varied range of metalliferous commodities.
• Possesses a strong working knowledge of the department with the proven ability to effectively train and transfer this knowledge to others.
• Displays the necessary current or transferable skills required for this role.
