Job Summary

The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) is a leading industry organization dedicated to the overall planning development marketing and management of the commercial port facilities within the Port of Prince Rupert.

PRPA is seeking a motivated eager-to-learn student to join the health safety & well-being team and contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience develop professional skills and enhance career prospects.

Summer student employment is for four monthscommencingMay 4 2026 and endingAugust 28 2026unlessotherwise specified.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide administrative and project support to the health & safety function assisting with a variety of safety initiatives and improvement projects.
  • Support the development review and organization of safety documentation including procedures programs forms and training materials.
  • Assist with training coordination including tracking completion updating records and following up on outstanding requirements.
  • Participate in safety inspections audits and reviews (as appropriate) including documenting findings and tracking action items.
  • Support data collection analysis and reporting related to health and safety performance.
  • Assist with communication of safety information to workers and supervisors (e.g. safety bulletins presentations job aids).
  • Maintain accurate records and document control ensuring information is current consistent and properly stored.
  • Perform other general health & safety and administrative duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a postâsecondary program
  • Strong organizational and timeâmanagement skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel Outlook Teams SharePoint).
  • Willingness to learn and apply health & safety principles policies and procedures.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular working hours are Monday to Friday 7.5 hours/day with a 1-hour lunch break (unpaid).
  • Work will be both in the field and in an office environment.

The hourly rate for PRPAs Summer Student positionis$29.00.
