About the Role
As the Film and TV (FTV) Facilities Supervisor your focus will be on managing the day-to-day technical operations of the FTV department coordinating the FTV facilities team and equipment while supporting students and the Head of Department in delivering key programs of work and meeting target goals.
Whats involved & Basic Job Functions
- Manage the technical operation and upkeep of the FTV department its equipment facilitates and staff.
- Maintaining and operating JMC FTV facilities and equipment.
- Assisting FTV students during studio bookings post production support and other general troubleshooting.
- Assistance with general maintenance and upkeep of Edit Labs grading suite & FTV computer systems;
- Assisting students in practical workshops
- Administering proficiency and competency tests.
- Supporting the FTV Studio Supervisor and Head of Department.
- Preparing facility and equipment bookings by students for pickup and checking all returns as equipment is brought back to facilities.
- Maintaining FTV studio and colour grading suite bookings schedule and ensuring equitable distribution of studio time to students outside of scheduled practical classes.
- Maintaining facility and equipment security logging in and out cameras lighting kits cables microphones and other small equipment used in the studio.
- Ensuring booked equipment is ready for collection and returned in a timely and efficient manner.
- Under guidance from the FTV Studio Supervisor train students in the proper use of these facilities and troubleshoot any problems they encounter.
- Under guidance from the FTV Studio Supervisor mentoring supervising and inspiring students while guiding them on production and post-production pathways / workflows.
- Managing maintenance of equipment & safe transportation.
- Adhere to JMC processes regarding lost and damaged equipment and undertake quotes repairs or replacement acquisition under guidance from the FTV Studio Supervisor.
- Setting up and recording of occasional JMC Academy related film productions events screenings Martini Film Awards and editing / post production work as required.
- Ensuring classroom / studio resources are in good working order and troubleshoot any technical difficulties and/or operational issues.
- Assisting students with general maintenance/operational issues.
- Assisting FTV Studio Supervisor with stock-taking equipment as directed.
- Assisting FTV Studio Supervisor with a variety of FTV-related Administration tasks.
- Organising tasks for and working with any casual FTV staff.
- Attending demonstrating and facilitating at Open Day and other promotional events a required.
- Opening & closing FTV Studio & Facilities in accordance with academic / trimester calendar.
- Dealing promptly with any student complaint or grievances per relevant procedure.
- Participating in any professional development opportunity made available to you.
- Fostering a close working relationship with all management and administration staff to ensure effective lines of communication at all times.
- Other general duties as directed by your supervisor
Are you who we are looking for
You will know this role is for you if you:
- Have a bachelor degree of higher in film and/or television or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the film and television industry
- High level knowledge or experience in a specific field related to film and television production.
- Previous experience in developing industry partnerships and opportunities for student to gain industry skills and networks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication organisation and time management skills
- Previous exposure to work as an academic/teacher or in a tertiary environment (desirable but not necessary).
- Have a Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
