Position Title: 2026 Spanish Immersion Summer Camp Teacher
**INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY**

May 26 2026 - 5 hours for planning
June 1 2026 June 18 2026
MondayThursday only 5 hours/day
Salary Range:
$30/hour extra duty pay for prep
$40/hour extra duty pay for instructional hours
Location: Madison Heights Elementary School
Department: Signature Programs
Reports To: Director of Signature Programs
Mission and Vision of the Spanish Summer Camp Teacher
The purpose of the Spanish Summer Camp Teacher is to provide a highly engaging language-rich immersion experience that promotes bilingualism biliteracy cultural appreciation and student confidence in Spanish.
The teacher will create an environment where students actively use Spanish in meaningful contexts through collaborative projects weekly challenges and cultural exploration. Instruction will emphasize communication creativity and cultural understanding while maintaining high expectations for target language use.
Program Overview
The Spanish Summer Camp is designed to:
- Strengthen students Spanish proficiency in listening speaking reading and writing
- Deepen cultural knowledge of Spanish-speaking countries
- Engage students in weekly challenges using district-provided lesson plans
- Provide hands-on interactive and collaborative learning experiences
Education and Experience
- Holds a current Arizona Teaching Certificate
- Spanish Immersion or Dual Language teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish (oral and written)
- Experience teaching in a target-language-only environment preferred
- Knowledge of ACTFL proficiency guidelines preferred
- Experience in differentiating instruction for varied proficiency levels
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement weekly challenge lesson plans provided by the district
- Plan and deliver weekly cultural lessons centered on a specific Spanish-speaking country
- Design engaging activities that promote active student use of Spanish
- Maintain consistent target language use (Spanish) throughout instructional time
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse proficiency levels
- Use effective classroom management strategies aligned to immersion best practices
- Monitor and document student participation and language growth
- Create a safe inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment
- Collaborate with fellow camp teachers and camp leadership
- Commit to all designated camp days
- Maintain regular attendance
- Comply with State Law and District policies and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong understanding of immersion pedagogy
- Ability to sustain 90100% Spanish during instruction
- Knowledge of language development and proficiency-based instruction
- Ability to design culturally authentic learning experiences
- Strong classroom management skills
- Effective communication with students families and staff
- Flexibility collaboration organization and professionalism
- Commitment to district mission and vision
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must maintain a valid Arizona certification fingerprint clearance card and appropriately certified status.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises classroom employees students and volunteers as assigned.
