Step into your new role
As a Highway Designerworking in the Mid-Atlantic Region you will focus on multiple projects ranging from small transportation enhancements small bridge projects to large highway/interchange projects. These projects may include intersection improvements road widenings bridge rehab/replacement designs and major interchange designs. This position is available in theMechanicsburg PA office.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and development of highway and transportation projects ensuring compliance with applicable design criteria standards and regulations.
- Prepare engineering documents for project advertisements and construction under the supervision of senior engineers and project managers.
- Collaborate with the highway design team to deliver projects following Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) standards and specifications.
- Conduct engineering calculations technical analysis and assist in the preparation of design plans.
- Support project budgeting cost estimating and scheduling efforts as needed.
- Participate in site visits and field assessments to collect data and ensure design accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams clients and stakeholders to coordinate project activities.
- Travel to project or client sites for meetings and project-related tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 0-3 years of experience in highway transportation design. Relevant internship experience or coursework will be considered.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid drivers license with a history of safe driving practices.
- Experience with MicroStation InRoads or Geopak preferred.
- EIT certification preferred.
