Department Overview
The School of Dentistry shares the mission of the Oregon Health & Science University to provide educational programs basic and clinical research and high quality care and community programs. We strive to foster an environment of mutual respect where the free exchange of ideas can flourish. The dental school prepares graduates in general dentistry and the dental specialties to deliver compassionate and ethical oro-facial health care.
Function/Duties of Position
This Dental Assistant Advance position supports the Periodontics department but also supports multiple departments within the School of Dentistry based upon clinical needs. The position requires flexibility and willingness to adapt to new situations and processes based upon the specific department that is being supported for each shift. Work units are primarily housed at the SOD in the Robertson Life Sciences Building (RLSB) at the South Waterfront with an additional work unit at the Russell Street Clinic located in Northeast Portland. Some potential travel to Russel Street Clinic as well as needed. EFDA certification highly encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an approved Dental Assistant training program AND Two years experience as a chair side Dental Assistant in an Advanced Specialty OR
- Three years experience as a chair side Dental Assistant in an Advanced Specialty
- Certification by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency required for all positions
- Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) card issued by the American Heart Association is required for all positions
- Must have worked as a dental assistant in an advanced specialty within the last 5 years
