Job Duties
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking a qualified Financial Investigator to join the Major Crimes & Emerging Threats Section of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Division.
The successful candidate for this position will:
- Conduct investigations of financial and financial related crimes under the Virginia criminal code;
- Be responsible for performing and investigating work in complex financial crimes cases such as money laundering bank fraud embezzlement identity theft and related crimes;
- Work collaboratively with and serve as a Virginia Attorney General representative on local state federal and interagency financial crime task forces;
- Prepare evidence for prosecution and testify to such findings in state and federal courts as needed;
- Assist with special investigations and projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- The successful candidate for this position must possesses experience in the investigation of financial crimes.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in time management the ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks strong planning organizational and communication skills.
- The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently and as a team member the ability to organize and analyze large quantities of information possess keen attention to detail and exhibit professional initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Candidates should have demonstrated computer proficiency with word processing and database management systems (Microsoft products preferred).
- This position offers the potential for promotion and educational training opportunities.
Additional Considerations
- Applicants must have a criminal justice or related undergraduate degree law enforcement certification or commensurate experience.
- Course work in criminal justice or prior investigative experience is preferred. However an equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the required qualifications may be substituted for educational criteria.
