Scope
The Media Center Technician is a full-time 12-month position that supports the mission of Christian Academy by modeling biblical integration and a Christ-centered worldview in all responsibilities and interactions. This position assists the Director of Media Services in the daily operation of the English Station Media Centers and supports selected district-level media functions. The role includes providing organizational technical and administrative support to ensure the efficient delivery of media services that enhance instruction and school-wide programming. The Media Center Technician works collaboratively with faculty staff and students to maintain a well-managed service-oriented learning environment aligned with the schools mission and standards of excellence.
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
- A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
- A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
- Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy
- Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth morality and the proper conduct of mankind
The candidate shall:
- Bachelors or associate degree (preferred)- Library Science Information Technology or related field
- Proficiency with library management systems databases and digital cataloging tools (Folletts Destiny)
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment computers and other technology commonly used in media centers
- Basic knowledge of copyright compliance digital resources and educational software
- Strong communication skills to assist students faculty and staff effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and under the direction of supervisors
- Excellent organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a love of reading research and learning
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly
- Flexibility to support special projects school events or other media center needs as assigned
- Professionalism reliability and a positive attitude in supporting students and staff
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- District Cataloging:
- Maintain the integrity of information in the Destiny Library Management and Destiny Resource Management Systems at the District level by entering records for use by each campus media center personnel or merging/evaluating data entered by any campus media center personnel
- Catalog and process all acquisitions to the English Station Elementary and Middle School/High School library collections using Destiny Library Manager and other online cataloging resources as needed
- Catalog and process all acquisitions to the resource collections for any campus (including but not limited to curriculum and technological devices) using Destiny Resource Manager and other online cataloging resources as needed
- Create and run Library and Resource management reports as needed
- Process donations
- Assist and guide other media center employees or other office staff (all campuses) regarding questions relating to the use of the Destiny Management System as needed
- Database Maintenance:
- Update and maintain the Destiny patron faculty and staff database for all campuses
- Annually update districtwide calendars course start/end dates and link curriculum to classes in Destiny
- Manage Enrollment/Disenrollment patrons throughout the year as needed.
- Promote and update student accounts annually to prepare for importing new school year data
- Collect library and resource fines and submit to the business office.
- Complete end-of-year reports for the business office documenting who has items out requiring a hold of grades and transcripts.
- Circulation Desk:
- Open the MS/HS Media Center before school and supervise students
- Manage the MS/HS circulation desk assisting media center patrons (students faculty staff parents volunteers and other visitors) with technological academic and other educational needs.
- Check in/out any library and/or curriculum resource
- Assist/troubleshoot computer and printer problems in the Media Center as needed
- Supervise students after school in the MS/HS Media Center until closing
- Close and lock the MS/HS Media Center after school
- Book Fairs:
- Assist in set up and break down of all book fairs. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Prepare all flyers and advertising materials for both elementary and middle school fairs
- Assist with MS Book Fair sales and inquiries
- Scheduling:
- Monitor the scheduling of the HS/MS Media Center the tutoring/meeting space and other media center areas by maintaining bookings on both the Google Calendar and School Dude
- Email faculty regarding availability of media center space for study hall students and middle school Power Hour
- Elementary:
- Prepare elementary for back-to-school including but not limited to circulation sticks library bags and handouts.
- Manage the Elementary Birthday Club (includes communications with families and teachers taking pictures of students processing the books and maintaining a spreadsheet of financials and participating students for end-of-year party).
- Assist in the elementary library as needed (when no volunteer is available).
- Inventory:
- Maintain inventory of office supplies and alert Director when supplies need replacing.
- Perform annual inventory of all English Station resources: Media Center books and equipment curriculum textbooks and devices.
- Perform end-of-year Teacher Resource inventory before teachers leave for summer.
- Perform annual summer inventory of Elementary teacher classrooms.
- Create Library book displays as needed (i.e. Black History Month Poetry Month etc.).

- Christ-like relationships with students colleagues peers and parents
- Clear verbal and written communication with colleagues parents and administration
- Timely and accurate record keeping
- Integrity of data into Destiny district-wide
