Wieland is hiring a Continuous Improvement Specialist (Assembly). The Continuous Improvement Specialist (Assembly) focuses on the Expansion Assembly Paint & Test Operations and is responsible for driving process optimization standardization and performance improvement across the areas to improve safety quality delivery and cost through structured problem solving lean methodologies and data-driven decision-making. The position ensures consistent processes strong shop floor engagement and sustainable improvements that support operational excellence and long-term business objectives. This role is located in Verona VA and will be fully on-site.
Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement Specialist (Assembly) Responsibilities:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within highly technical assembly painting and testing processes.
- Identify and scope assembly paint and test-focused improvement opportunities that drive measurable gains in safety product quality throughput and cost reduction.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing methodologies such as TPM Six Sigma 5S 3P Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping specifically within assembly lines coating operations and product testing environments.
- Develop and implement standardized assembly SOPs and test procedures to ensure repeatability compliance and process stability.
- Track and report key assembly paint and testing performance metrics including First Pass Yield (FPY) defect and rework rates line efficiency takt adherence paint utilization scrap equipment uptime OEE and test cycle performance.
- Track monitor and report on the results of each project to ensure execution of timelines deliverables and defined performance targets.
- Develop and facilitate improved shop floor relationships that encourage increased participation in the overall improvement process including roundtable discussions cross-functional improvement teams operator engagement initiatives and structured problem-solving events.
- Support capital improvement initiatives related to assembly tooling material handling systems paint booths and curing systems testing equipment and automation upgrades.
- Assist Engineering Leadership in strategic planning efforts aligned with continuous improvement objectives and operational performance goals.
Continuous Improvement Specialist (Assembly) Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Six Sigma Certification preferred.
- Extensive hands-on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement implementation and facilitation experience.
- 5 years of experience driving Continuous Improvement in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience creating and implementing SOPs.
- Strong team building and facilitation written verbal and interpersonal skills.
- High energy and passion for continuous improvement is required.
