A Brief Overview
The Patient Advocate position is part of an inclusive program designed to provide employment opportunities for individuals with life experiences with Down syndrome. This role is instrumental in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients with Down syndrome and their families. As a visible and approachable member of the clinic team the Patient Advocate helps answer questions shares personal experiences and contributes to a positive experience for all visitors.
Essential Functions
Patient Experience
- Greet patients and their families or caregivers upon arrival at the clinic.
- Ensure all visitors sign in accodring to clinic protocols.
- Collaborate with front desk team to support smooth patient flow.
- Respond to questions from families and caregivers about living with Down syndrome.
- Share personal experiences related to friendships education relationships community involvment and advocacy.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all hospital policies regarding infection control and safety.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma Required
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years of customer service experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Life experiences with Down Syndrome.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly respectful and collaborative demeanor.
- Reliable and responsible; able to maintain scheduled commitments.
