A major electrical engineering firm in the North of Johannesburg is seeking an Applications Engineer to join their team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Role Summary:
Translate complex customer requirements into functional technical solutions. This role bridges the gap between raw concepts and commercial reality by generating precise electrical drawings Bill of Materials (BOM) and high-value proposals that empower channel partners and direct end-users to implement systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret customer RFQs/requirements to design integrated electrical and automation solutions.
Develop comprehensive electrical drawings and accurate BOMs.
Prepare technical-commercial proposals including pricing lead times and scope of work.
Provide technical pre-sales support to channel partners to facilitate market growth.
Collaborate with Product Design and Support teams to ensure solution feasibility and alignment with standards.

Essential Requirements:

Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
Proven experience in electrical design and producing technical documentation/BOMs.
Proficiency in CAD software and advanced Excel for costing.
Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of industrial sales cycles.

Beneficial Requirements:

Experience working with channel partners or system integrators.
In-depth knowledge of automation and switchgear product ranges.
Ability to present technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.

Work Environment & Compensation:

Location:Office-based with occasional site visits for requirement scoping.
Travel: Minimal to moderate (up to 25%) for client consultations.
Hours: Standard business hours.
