Sustainability Intern - Springer Nature Opening Doors Programme

The Springer Nature Opening Doors Sustainability internship is a paid opportunity in London UK for students and recent graduates to gain experience in research education and science news publishing in our journals booksor magazines.
Many perspectives and lived experiences remain underrepresented in the publishing industry. This underrepresentation has historically affected a wide range of groups including Black people Indigenous people and people of colour firstgeneration university students people from socioeconomically disadvantagedbackgrounds LGBTQ communities people from underrepresented social castes religious minorities and people with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions.
We are looking for talented candidates from all backgrounds with excellent skills in a range of fields and we are committed to creating an inclusive internship with a cohort that reflects a broad range of voices and experiences.
The successful applicant will spend twelve monthswithin the Sustainability team part of the Corporate Affairs division of Springer Nature. If selected for this internship your role will include:
Charitable contributions (Global and UK): Supporting the central administration of corporate donations and the collection of data about other charitable donations made across Springer Nature in line with the agreed approach and in liaison with internal communications and social media teams to create informative internal and external contenthelpingbuild awareness of donations with existing charity partnerstoidentifyother opportunities to engage ( eventsetc).
Community activities (London): Supporting our aims to be a responsible member of our local community in the Kings Cross relationships ( schools charities local partners) tracking volunteering time and other in-kind giving. Supporting events such as volunteer recognition and recruitmenttogrowthe number of colleagues volunteering locally. Supporting communications related to vocationalprogrammessuch as work experience (managed by HR)andschool workshops to raise awareness and encourage business-wide support.
Employee engagement in sustainability/ Green Impact network (Global): Assist the Senior Sustainability Managerin providing support to the global Green Impact Network. Forexamplecreating materials for events and activities liaising with members of the networks on specific topics updating relevantdocumentationand sharing success stories for newsletters and blog posts. Be an active member of the London Green Impact Network.
Other internal sustainability engagement: supporting SDG/sustainability related events and activities asrequired.
Providing limited administrative support to the sustainable business rooms and minuting meetings related to topics above.
