Job Summary
Overview
As a Correctional Dialysis Biomedical Technician (BMET) you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to ensures the safety repair and maintenance of hemodialysis machines water treatment systems and ancillary equipment in the facility.
Responsibilities
The Dialysis Biomedical Technician (BMET) performs preventative maintenance calibrates equipment documents repairs and manages inventory to meet regulatory standards (e.g. AAMI CMS) in the correctional facility. Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
- Perform schedule and document preventative maintenance troubleshooting and repairs on dialysis machines water treatment systems (RO units) and related equipment.
- Conduct regular checks for water/dialysate including testing for total chlorine pH conductivity and water hardness.
- Ensure all equipment operates within manufacturer specifications industry standards and regulatory requirements (OSHA CMS JCAHO).
- Maintain meticulous records of repairs inspections and technical data in computerized systems.
- Train clinical staff (nurses and patient care technicians) on proper equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Manage order and track service parts tools and equipment inventory
Qualifications
Position Qualifications/Requirements/Preferred Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is required; an associates degree in biomedical technology or electronics is preferred.
- Must have experience maintaining and repairing Fresenius dialysis machines maintaining and repairing dialysis water systems/reverse osmosis systems
- Strong electromechanical skills understanding of hydraulic systems and technical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Capability to lift bend and stand for long periods; often requires lifting items up to 50 lbs.
- Valid drivers license is required for traveling between facilities; BONENT certification is often preferred or required within a certain timeframe.
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies procedures and legal requirements
- Must pass the facilitys criminal background check and drug screening
