MalaceHR is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to support facility operations in Fort Wayne IN. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of building systems including HVAC plumbing and general facility infrastructure. The ideal candidate is hands-on safety-focused and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Chief Engineer and support daily facility operations
- Perform preventive maintenance and respond to repair work orders across mechanical electrical and building systems
- Operate maintain and repair HVAC equipment including cooling towers boilers pumps RTUs and air handling units
- Complete repairs related to plumbing drywall masonry asphalt gates and general building systems
- Conduct routine facility inspections and report deficiencies impacting operations
- Perform building rounds and communicate findings to the Chief Engineer
- Respond effectively to facility emergencies and support storm-related activities as needed
- Maintain fire life safety systems and generators
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures codes and regulations
- Maintain clean and safe work areas; identify and mitigate hazards
- Support after-hours building-related needs when required
- Assist Facilities Manager and Chief Engineer with projects and daily requests
- Participate in ongoing training and development
- Utilize CMMS systems to manage and track work orders
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in building engineering or facilities maintenance
- Strong background in HVAC plumbing electrical systems and general maintenance
- Experience in commercial and/or industrial environments
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and climb ladders up to 30 feet
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
- Flexibility to work overtime or support after-hours needs as required
Preferred
- Universal EPA 608 Certification
- Knowledge of MEP/HVAC system design and application
- Experience using CMMS platforms for work order management
- Background in facilities services or property maintenance
- Carpentry experience
