Enterprise Architect (Technology & Business Debt / Portfolio Prioritisation)
Our client a leading technology and digital solutions provider is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect. This is a strategic Enterprise Architect role focused on identifying and quantifying technology debt and business debt then prioritising IT initiatives to maximise ROI and business impact. The position is not purely design every system architecture; it is portfolio-level decisioning roadmap shaping and governance to drive measurable outcomes. Key responsibilities
Define and maintain enterprise architecture principles target-state architecture and multi-year technology roadmap aligned to business strategy.
Establish a practical methodology to identify size and track technical debt and business debt (cost risk operational impact customer impact regulatory exposure).
Lead IT portfolio prioritisation: evaluate demands build business cases compare options and recommend sequencing based on ROI risk reduction and strategic fit.
Partner with business stakeholders to translate objectives into capability maps value streams and a prioritised change backlog.
Create architecture standards and guardrails across applications data integration cloud security and infrastructure; ensure solutions align to target state.
Govern key initiatives via architecture reviews technology choices and exception management; resolve cross-domain dependencies and trade-offs.
Requirements
15 years in IT with significant experience in enterprise architecture / IT strategy / architecture governance in large complex environments.
Proven track record prioritising enterprise-wide initiatives and influencing investment decisions with a clear ROI narrative.
Strong experience assessing technical debt (legacy platforms integration complexity data quality security gaps) and converting it into actionable remediation roadmaps.
Excellent stakeholder management: can challenge constructively facilitate workshops and present to C-level/non-technical audiences.
Strong grasp of modern architecture patterns (cloud/hybrid API/integration data platforms security-by-design) and how they affect cost and delivery speed.
Experience with architecture frameworks and tooling (e.g. TOGAF preferred; ArchiMate LeanIX/MEGA/Alfabet or similar is a plus).
