We are currently looking for a Staff Nurse to transfer to the Infusion Lounge on a permanent basis (18 hours per week)
This is ideal for Nurses who thrive under pressure and are committed to delivering safe care by demonstrating compassion critical thinking and teamwork.
Qualifications & Experience
Must have:
- Be registered in the General Division of the active Register held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- Have a minimum of 2 years post registration experience in the acute care sector.
- Have Cannulation/ Phlebotomy skills
- Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate evidence of continuing learning and professional development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Hospital/Departmental Emergency Plans.
- Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Values of the Hospital.
Desirable
- Experience / knowledge of Inflammatory Bowel Disease desirable.
Main Job Duties:
- Plan and assess patient care needs.
- Adhere to departmental patient identification policy at all times.
- Maintain throughout the Hospital an awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all Hospital activities.
- Ensure the provision of a high standard of care to the patient and families is consistent with the mission vision values and strategic plan of the Hospital.
- Support the Clinical Nurse Managers in the implementation of Hospital Policy in all matters.
- Identify and implement operation of Hospital Policy in all matters.
- Play an active role in patient and family education and be actively involved in Health Education and promotion.
- Encourage recognition of the patient as an individual ensuring patients needs and comfort are given priority.
- Assess plan and deliver patient care together with the Multidisciplinary Team.
- Communicate with relevant team regarding patients condition and relaying information and changes in Doctor orders to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
- Facilitate the arrangements necessary and participate where appropriate in education and training of other Hospital staff as the need arises. This includes students at both undergraduate and post-graduate level and junior staff.
- Promote evidence based practice.
- Coordinate infusions for patients.
- Responsible for pre-assessment of patients prior to infusion as appropriate.
- Responsible for administering IV infusions as prescribed monitoring patients during the infusion.
- Monitor for reactions and side effects.
- Ensure a high standard of care evidence-based is delivered safely in accordance with the Hospital policies procedures and guidelines.
- Preserve the dignity and rights of the patient at all times during their stay in the department. Encourage the recognition of the patient as an individual ensuring patients needs and comfort are given priority.
- Communicate with the relevant teams regarding the patients condition and relaying information.
- Document and record accurately all details of nursing care delivered. Update IT systems accordingly.
- Foster good nurse/patient relationships through the provision of holistic Nursing care and support for each patient.
- Have reporting relationship to the Assistant Director of Nursing
- Have Professional accountability to the Director of Nursing.
