Disclosure Scotland provides criminal record checking services to individuals and organisations to support safer recruitment and protect vulnerable groups. We provide a key societal service both protecting vulnerable people and assisting other people to safely get back to work and contribute to society. We are currently developing and continuously improving our service based on user needs.
This is a great opportunity to help transform the way the government provides this critical public service to safeguard children and vulnerable adults. The role will be positioned inside the digital and service delivery team and will operate under an agile delivery framework. As a key member of the team you will support the delivery of the Disclosure Scotland future roadmap and will be deeply involved in the delivery of digital services and new legislation.
We have a team of Product Managers on site that will support the successful applicant as well as a number of subject matter experts to provide detailed knowledge on Disclosure Scotland and our systems. Product Managers at Disclosure Scotland lead multidisciplinary teams of developers designers and analysts making and delivering services that meet user needs in a cost effective way. Product Managers are responsible for the quality of their products. They communicate credibly with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. They define own and solve problems using their knowledge of user needs and business goals to set priorities for their delivery teams. They work closely with other members of the wider delivery team interpreting findings to make correct product decisions.
The product manager will understand the impact of these decisions on their specific product and the overall delivery of Disclosure Scotland systems and processes.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities
- Identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use including measuring and evaluating outcomes.
- Help the team to decide the best approach.
- Help teams to manage and visualise outcomes prioritise work and adhere to agreed minimum viable product (MVP) priorities and scope.
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of design technology and data principles - Identify and implement solutions for assisted digital.
- Apply knowledge to work with other roles and groups in Government Digital and Data.
- Realise the benefit of a product and persuade others that its the right one to use.
- Integrate a product with other services.
- Ensure that products get used.
- Realise benefits by linking work in progress back to the business case.
- Build business cases based on user needs.
- Apply experience in multiple parts of the product life cycle.
- Recognise when it is right to move forward and when it is right to stop.
- Recognise the appropriate deliverables and the right people to meet them.
- Work with other Agile delivery operations throughout the product life cycle.
- Plan and engage with the appropriate stakeholders at a particular stage in the project.
- Design operational processes for the running and maintenance of products or services throughout their product life cycle.
- Redesign operational processes amend existing processes and plan and put into operation the stages of a new product or service development.
- Act as the escalation point for operational issues and can fix complex operational issues.
- Overcome operational constraints to deliver a successful product or service.
- Work closely with operational delivery teams in Government Digital and Data.
- Anticipate problems and defend against them at the right time.
- Understand how the problem fits into the larger picture.
- Articulate the problem and help others to do so - build problem-solving capabilities in others.
- Apply tools terms and concepts in a variety of ways.
- Be flexible consider new ways of working and adapt to change.
- Effectively get buy-in from the organisation.
- Work with scant information and explain it in abstract terms.
