Position Overview
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for screening assessing and identifying students with communication disorders that impact their educational performance. The SLP will provide both direct and indirect therapy services within the school environment while collaborating with educators parents and support staff to support students communication and academic success.
The position involves developing individualized treatment plans based on Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and ensuring that students receive appropriate speech and language services to support their educational development.

Standard Contract Dates: 08/07/2026 06/04/2027
Schedule: Monday Friday
Daily Hours: 8-hour workday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Weekly Billable Hours: 37.5
Key Responsibilities
Student Assessment & Evaluation
Screen and assess students to identify speech language and communication disorders.
Conduct diagnostic evaluations to determine eligibility for special education speech services.
Interpret assessment results and prepare evaluation reports.
Treatment Planning
Develop Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.
Create and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to student needs.
Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
Therapy Services
Provide direct speech and language therapy to students individually or in groups.
Deliver indirect therapy services through consultation and classroom support.
Use evidence-based practices to improve student communication skills.
Collaboration & Support
Collaborate with teachers parents school psychologists and special education staff.
Provide guidance and direction to para-educators and classroom staff.
Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with special education and school district regulations.
Prepare reports therapy notes and progress updates.
Ensure compliance with state and federal education regulations.
Required Qualifications
Education
Candidates must meet one of the following:
Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology OR
Masters Degree in Communication Disorders
Licensure & Certifications
California Speech-Language Pathologist License
ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP)
California Teaching Credential (CTC)
OR
Candidates with a Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders may qualify and the Lompoc school district will assist with obtaining an Ed Code Certification.
