The Texas Instruments (TI) Government Relations team represents the company on important public policy issues around the world. We work with local state and federal government officials legislators trade associations business partners and internal and external stakeholders to advance a policy and regulatory environment that supports TIs business priorities.

Texas Instruments is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our state government relations team. The Director of Government Relations for our Utah operations will be responsible for developing and executing government relations strategies at the state and local levels. This role focuses on advancing our interests in Utah by advocating for TIs public policy priorities and building relationships with key state and local officials community leaders and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will serve as the companys primary representative on policy matters affecting our business operations in Utah.

A successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills robust policy experience and strong relationships with policymakers in Utah. This individual contributor role is based in Lehi Utah and will report to the Head of State and Local Government Relations in Dallas.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Lead the companys government affairs and policy efforts in Utah and execute advocacy strategies to secure favorable policy and project approval outcomes
  • Develop and implement strategies to advance the companys interests on critical policy issues including water energy tax incentives and workforce development in Utah
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with elected officials government agencies industry associations and community stakeholders across Utah
  • Monitor and analyze state and municipal legislation regulations and ordinances that may impact TIs operations in Utah; draft comprehensive briefings for internal stakeholders
  • Leverage policy and political expertise to directly advocate and lead negotiations with state and local elected officials and regulatory agencies on critical infrastructure agreements and projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams to align government relations strategies with business priorities and objectives
  • Represent the company at public hearings community events and industry forums
  • Engage with local communities surrounding our operations to foster local support and address concerns
  • Serve as a trusted liaison to mayors city councils planning boards county commissions the governors office state legislators local elected officials public utility commissions and economic development agencies
  • Facilitate elected official fab tours and site visits
  • Represent TI in key coalitions and industry associations
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Utah congressional delegation and partner with the federal team on issues that impact our Utah operations
  • Ensure adherence to lobbying registration ethics and disclosure rules across all jurisdictions
  • Manage contract lobbyists and trade associations
  • Coordinate with internal teams to enhance TIs reputation in Utah



Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree in public policy law business or related field preferred
  • 8 years of experience in Utah state and local government relations or public policy with demonstrated track record of success in developing and driving government affairs strategies that align with organizational objectives

Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of legislative and regulatory processes in Utah
  • Strong knowledge of policy issues including water energy tax and workforce development
  • Established relationships with Utah government officials regulatory agencies and community leaders
  • Exceptional communication negotiation and relationship-building skills; demonstrated ability to build strong influential relationships and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Proven ability to translate complex policy matters into business implications
