Were looking for a motivated detail-oriented college student to join our Marketing team as a Community & Landowner Outreach Intern. This role supports two key areas of our business: maintaining strong relationships with landowners who host our solar projects and conducting research to help our teams engage effectively with communities where were developing solar projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in marketing communications community relations or the renewable energy industry. Youll gain hands-on experience with enterprise tools like Salesforce while contributing to meaningful work that supports clean energy development. The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in Marketing Communications Sustainability or a related field with an expected graduation date between Dec 2026-May 2028 have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently on multiple projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Outreach Research
- Conduct community audits in areas where New Energy Equity is developing projects identifying local personalities news media outlets social media channels county leadership and influential community groups that shape public opinion
- Research and document local community sentiment towards solar development and renewable energy generation
- Build and maintain a stakeholder database of organizations and individuals in target communities
- Enter and organize community research in Salesforce or other designated databases
- Assist with developing content for Development & Permitting teams to use in community outreach efforts
Landowner Outreach Support
- Maintain contact data for current landowner partners and track progress toward contact goals
- Compile and organize responses from landowner and community surveys; assist with reviewing and summarizing data
- Maintain contact data for new landowner campaigns
- Provide support for creating and testing marketing emails
Research Projects
- Research email marketing best practices in B2B real estate and energy sectors. Gather examples of effective copy creative and messaging from comparable industries. Where available compile industry benchmark data on response rates. Create a best practices report with recommendations for NEEs email programs.
- Using search and generative engine research tools to identify keyword and topic opportunities related to solar land leasing and landowner concerns. Document findings and provide recommendations for website and content optimization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in Marketing Communications Sustainability or related degree with an expected graduation date between Dec 2026-May 2028
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite Skills (i.e. Excel Word Access Outlook PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with a variety of people in changing situations
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects
PREFERRED:
- Interest in marketing communications community relations or renewable energy
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn Salesforce and other tools
- Experience conducting online research and synthesizing information
- Coursework or experience in marketing communications business environmental studies or related field.
DETAILS & DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:
- Rate of Pay: $ 20 / hour.
- Internship duration: Approximately June 2026 to August 2026
- This position will be in-person at the Roseville MN office
- Hours of work: 40 hrs/week)
